An immunization for COVID-19 could be ready as soon as September, according to a professor from Oxford University.
Sarah Gilbert is a professor of vaccinology and says that she is "80% sure" a COVID-19 vaccine being developed by her team will work.
Her group at Oxford is part of a global effort to discover an immunization for coronavirus which has executed more than 100,000 individuals around the globe, as per Johns Hopkins University.
Professor Gilbert has said that human trials are set to happen inside the following fortnight, and that she has been working seven days per week to get a vaccine rushed through.
She revealed to The Times paper: "I think there's a high chance that it will work based on other things that we have done with this type of vaccine
"It's not just a hunch and as every week goes by we have more data to look at. I would go for 80%, that's my personal view."
She included that having something pready by the autumn is "just about possible if everything goes perfectly", however cautioned that "nobody can promise it's going to work".
The lockdown in the UK could make it increasingly hard to test the vaccine, as human contact is low, so analysts should direct conduct trials somewhere with a higher rate of transmission, to get a quicker result.
